Sven Grooten started the independent design-studio B-architecten in November 1997, together with Evert Crols and Dirk Engelen. The studio is based in Antwerp, Belgium. B-architecten is today a multidisciplinary team of 32 people working in an innovating way on various projects ranging from stage design and exhibitions, over shops and offices to private houses, public buildings, schools and urban planning. Their projects involve the shop of Walter van Beirendonck in Antwerp, the public shed in the Kiel-neighbourhood of Antwerp, the renovation of the Beursschouwburg in Brussels, the cultural centre De Grote Post in Ostend, the library Muntpunt in Brussels, and many more.
